Climate – Resources – Ecology [EN]

Seminar S3 JMA-BE

Content

The impact of climate change is one of the greatest challenges of our time. The construction industry accounts for 40% of natural resource consumption, 40% of energy consumption and 50% of waste generation worldwide. This fact alone emphasises the great socio-political responsibility that architects and planners have to assume in order to think about scenarios that are as prudent as they are radical and to implement them concretely in sustainable architectural and urban development projects. In Seminar 3 ‘Climate – Resources – Climate – Ecology’, individual aspects will be examined and connections established. Topics such as urban and indoor climate, geology and soil, water and the city, extraction and terraforming, regenerative building materials and ecosystems, technical and biological cycles, energy and systems are discussed theoretically and using specific examples.

teaching aims

Experts from teaching, research and practice impart theoretical approaches and demonstrate current solutions using specific programms and projects. The aim is to open up new perspectives for participants and encourage them to conduct further research. The 11 events will present theoretical concepts, practical projects and innovative research results. The 11 events provide participants with a sound basis for understanding theory and practice-orientated solutions, reflecting on them critically and developing their own innovative/critical contributions to architecture. The joint final colloquium serves as a platform for sharing individual findings and discussing new solutions.
